Long Description:
The name ‘Chamomile’ comes from the Ancient Greek words kamai (earth) and melon (apple).
It’s an apt description: these delicate flowers thrive in almost any soil and have a sweet apple-
like scent. A close cousin of the daisy, Chamomile’s yellow flower heads and white petals follow
the sun across the day. Once the flower heads are picked, they are kept whole and slowly dried
to ensure the best possible flavour. The small golden blossoms are packed in, to curate Desi
Grub Premium Pure Chamomile Tea.
The dried flowers of chamomile contain many terpenoids and flavonoids contributing to its
medicinal properties. With a wealth of health benefits: chamomile has been used for medicinal
purposes since the ancient times, where it was revered for having healing properties, such as
helping to fall asleep at night, boosting your immune system, reducing stress, hay fever,
inflammation, muscle spasms, menstrual disorders, insomnia, ulcers, wounds, gastrointestinal
disorders, rheumatic pain, and hemorrhoids, a cup of chamomile tea can help.
Potential Benefits:
Promotes Sleep and Relaxation: One of the most well-known benefits of chamomile
tea is its ability to promote sleep and relaxation. It contains apigenin, an antioxidant that
binds to certain receptors in the brain, potentially reducing insomnia and promoting
better sleep quality.
Reduces Anxiety and Depression: Chamomile tea may have anxiolytic (anxiety-
reducing) and antidepressant properties. Regular consumption of chamomile tea has
been associated with reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression in some studies.
Digestive Health: Chamomile tea has been traditionally used to treat various digestive
issues, including indigestion, gas, diarrhea, and nausea. It may help relax the muscles of
the gastrointestinal tract, reducing symptoms of digestive discomfort.
Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Properties: Chamomile contains compounds that
have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These properties may help reduce
inflammation, protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, and promote overall
health.
Menstrual Pain Relief: Drinking chamomile tea may help alleviate menstrual cramps
and other symptoms associated with menstruation, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and
muscle-relaxing properties.
May Improve Heart Health: Chamomile tea is abundant in flavones, a class of
antioxidants. Flavones in chamomile have been studied for their potential to lower
cholesterol, which are important markers of your heart disease risk
Boosts Immune System: Chamomile tea contains compounds that may help boost the
immune system, promoting better overall health and reducing the risk of infections.
Skin Health: Chamomile has been used topically and orally for various skin conditions,
including eczema, wounds, and inflammation. Drinking chamomile tea may help promote
healthier skin and alleviate certain skin issues.
Bone Health: Some studies suggest that chamomile tea may have beneficial effects on
bone density and may help prevent bone-related conditions like osteoporosis, although
more research is needed in this area.
Blood Sugar Regulation: Preliminary studies have shown that chamomile may help
regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of complications related to diabetes.
Relief from Cold Symptoms: Chamomile tea's anti-inflammatory properties may help
alleviate symptoms of colds and respiratory infections, providing relief from sore throat,
congestion, and cough.
